Let’s talk about suicide

Lets' talk about suicide

Suicide is devastating. This page is to raise awareness, educate and help prevent suicide deaths in Australia.

Harden up Princess. My parting words to a friend that went home and sadly committed suicide. Little did I know that around 2500 people a year commit suicide every year and 3 out of every 5 are men. Suicide is the leading cause of death of all Australians aged 15 – 44.

Man Vs Wild 2014

Graham McDonnell is about to embark on a challenge like no other.

This remote wilderness trek is based in a rugged and remote area of the East Kimberley and is designed for those of us who are ready for a once in a lifetime adventure!! We will be dropped in the middle of nowhere and have to hunt and gather our food and find fresh water to keep us alive for 7 day in the blistering sun of the remote Kimberley.

The reason for the gruelling challenge is to raise money and awareness for the telethon adventurers and their fantastic cause to find a cure and put a stop to childhood brain cancer for good.

I am asking people to dig deep and donate to this fantastic cause because without your help there will be more young children that will unfortunately fall victim to this terrible disease.

Life is a gift that everyone deserves to enjoy.

Thank you,
Graham McDonnell

Cancer No Bueno

When I think of the word ‘Cancer’ I think of those who have lived their lives and had their fun. The old man next door, grandparents, great aunties and uncles. Never did I expect that my best friend, on her 23rd birthday, would be diagnosed with cancer. Hodgkins Lymphoma to be exact.

In the days to follow after her diagnosis, our friend would commence intense chemotherapy. I saw her go from the life of the party to a frail girl. Although spending most of her days in bed and in pain, not once have I heard her complain.

She often relishes in the fact that she gets free room service from her parents and makes jokes about needing to wash her hair (she lost her hair in the first month of treatment). Needless to say this once carefree, come as you are girl has radiated positivity and has been an absolute inspiration to everyone around her.

“Cancer No Bueno” is a night to give generously to the cancer community and to support the wonderful work of the Leukaemia Foundation. A night to prove that Gen Y do more than just binge drink and upload selfies to Instagram.

In dedication to supporting Jaclyn through her journey, I have created a fundraising event called “Cancer No Bueno” to be held at the WACA on June 20th, 2014. This event gives everyone the chance to give back to the cancer community and bring awareness to our generation. The funds raised at the event, through ticket sales, raffles and silent auctions, will help provide the much needed research into prevention, detection and treatment of Leukaemia.

There is the opportunity for individuals or companies to sponsor the up and coming event or donate items for auction where possible and help us in the endeavour to raise funds for this worthy charity.

If you would like to make a donation towards this great cause please contact Brittany:

Thank you for helping me raise $14,425 for Telethon Adventures

I would like to thank all my supporters, family and friends for helping me raise $14,425 for Telethon Adventures. It has been a great journey and the challenge has been one of the most physical and mental challenges I have ever accomplished. One of the lessons I have learned form this challenge is that you can achieve anything in life if you just put your mind to it and get on with it.

When I stated this challenge it was to raise awareness about this terrible disease. Being in Chamonix with this fantastic group of people it has now made me even more determined to reach my goal to help make a difference. Did you know that 100 children per year in WA get diagnosed with cancer. If it is a brain tumour then 70 % of those kids will tragically die. On the other hand if it is leukaemia 80 % will survive. We need to minimise the gap for brain tumours. How do we do that? By raising funds to pay the scientists and specialists in this area.

At Innovative Hair Loss Solutions, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us as a local business.

We have sponsored a number of charity and community based events in the past and are happy to now be a major sponsor of the Yanchep Districts Junior Football Club – The Junior Redhawks.

As well as helping with sponsorship, we have also helped them get their new website off the ground. Check it out at The website features all the important information club members will need, such as coaches contact details, upcoming events and training/game times (once fixtures set), and they also take a backward look and honour those who have blazed the trail for the club to be what it is today.

This year you will see some additional sponsors and activities around the club. The Junior Redhawks are proud to announce that The Rural Building Company are back on board. You’ll notice a difference in how they treat their clients and the environment.

Also proudly supporting the football club are:

The Western Australian Institute of Martial Arts (WAIMA) – New School coming to Currambine.

Thinking IT – for all your business IT networking requirements.

Finance Achievers – Mark and his team are fantastic and will get you finance for that home or investment property.

A huge thank you to all the local businesses that generously give the club sponsorship dollars or raffle prizes each year – please support their business too! Full Sponsor list.
